Beat The Heat!

We here at SERVPRO of Dover Middletown have some tips to help keep you and your family cool and safe this summer!
- DO NOT leave children or pets alone in a parked vehicle. Temperatures can reach between 130 and 172 Degrees within 1 hour when the outside temperature is between 80 and 100 degrees. If you see pets or children left in a vehicle please contact 911 immediately.
- Stay hydrated; avoid drinks with sugar alcohol, or caffeine, water is always the best option!
- Stay indoors on the lowest floor possible.
- Wear lightweight, light colored clothing.
- Make sure if you are outside that you use sunscreen with adequate SPF.
- Limit outdoor activities, especially mid day when the sun is the hottest.
Know the signs of heat stroke:
- Flushed, hot, and dry skin with no sweating.
- High body temperature above 103 degrees.
- Severe throbbing headaches, weakness, laziness, dizziness, or confusion.
- Sluggishness or fatigue, Decreased responsiveness, and loss of consciousness.
If heat stroke occurs take these steps and immediately call 911:
- Get victim inside or in shade
- Get person to cool shower or bath or wipe with cool washcloth while awaiting emergency responders.
